Legendary Pictures’ King Kong prequel Skull Island has announced its first star and its director, according to The Wrap.

Avengers Assemble and Thor: The Dark World fan-favourite Tom Hiddleston has joined the cast, although his role is a mystery.

Perhaps inspired by enlisting Monsters director Gareth Edwards for Godzilla, Legendary have tapped indie director Jordan Vogt-Roberts – best known for The Kings Of Summer and TV comedies Death Valley and Mash Up – to helm the movie.

Godzilla is available to buy from 27 October 2014. You can pre-order it on Blu-ray for £17 at Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
