King Kong prequel Skull Island approaches perfect director

Godzilla studio target the perfect director for monster movie Skull Island

king-kongAs soon as Legendary Entertainment teased the development of their Skull Island movie, the two questions everyone asked were “Will this tie in with Godzilla?” and “Who will direct?”

We now know that the studio are actively looking for an answer to the latter, as Deadline reports that an offer is out to Attack The Block director Joe Cornish.

Cornish would be the perfect choice for a film like this, and fits into a similar bracket as Godzilla director Gareth Edwards in that there’s a clear love and reverence for the genre in his debut film.

There’s been no word from Cornish yet on whether he’s interested. He recently turned down Star Trek 3, but is he looking for a mega budget creature feature?

Godzilla writer Max Borenstein is currently working on the script.

You can pre-order Godzilla on Blu-ray for £17 at Amazon.co.uk.
