Sigourney Weaver reacts to Neill Blomkamp’s Alien rumours

Sigourney Weaver talks about a potential Alien 5 and where she left Ripley

AlienNeill Blomkamp’s concept art for a potential Alien 5 got us all excited, and his comments that Fox were up for making the film were pretty exciting. Now, Sigourney Weaver has pitched in.

Speaking to Coming Soon, the star said that her Chappie director could tempt her into returning to the franchise.

“He kept sending me these brilliant designs and ideas and everything. We’ll see what happens,” she said. “…We just left it at such a creepy place, sort of stranded above Earth. I was quite happy to move onto other things and I didn’t want to go to Earth. I didn’t want to manufacture a sequel and I felt like we were starting to do that. If something happens from this, it would be very organic and very original, and because of that, it would make me want to do it. If it was someone as talented as Neill, I’d certainly listen.”

What do you think? Would you want a new Alien movie starring Sigourney Weaver, or do you want to see the franchise continue to move away in a more Prometheus-y direction?

Chappie is released in UK cinemas 6 March. You can buy the Alien Anthology box-set on Blu-ray for £18.24 at Amazon.co.uk and keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
