The New York Comic Con saw Pixar showing off some more footage from its upcoming Wall•E as well as revealing that sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver voices a role in the forthcoming flick. Weaver will provide the voice for the computer of the starship Axiom on which the cleaning droid Wall•E finds himself.
“We kind of geeked out at the thought of having a little wink to Alien,” producer Jim Morris has said, to SCI FI Wire, of the decision to cast the xenomorph-battler. “Instead of fighting Mother [the computer of the Nostromo in Ridley Scott’s 1979 Alien], Sigourney has become Mother.”
Wall•E is scheduled to hit cinemas on 18 July.
