Shut In trailer Jacob Tremblay scares the hell out of Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts regrets taking in Room’s Jacob Tremblay in first trailer for Shut In

Room‘s Jacob Tremblay gets creepy in the trailer for upcoming chiller Shut In, starring Naomi Watts, Oliver Platt (in his second creepy-kid film this year following The 9th Life Of Louis Drax) and Charlie Heaton (Will’s photography-loving brother Jonathan in Stranger Things).

“A heart-pounding thriller about a widowed child psychologist who lives in an isolated existence in rural New England. Caught in a deadly winter storm, she must find a way to rescue a young boy before he disappears forever.”

The film is directed by Farren Blackburn, who gave us violent Viking actioner Hammer Of The Gods, as well as episodes of Doctor Who, Luther, Daredevil and The Fades (the years may pass, but we’ll still take any opportunity to mention The Fades!) The script comes from Christina Hodson, and it’s the first of her screenplays to be produced, although she’s got Katherine Heigl/Rosario Dawson thriller Unforgettable on the way too from director Denise Di Novi.

Although we’re worried that the trailer does give a little too much away, Shut In does look like it could be creepy fun in the vein of something like Jaume Collet-Sera’s Orphan. Hopefully more like Orphan and less like Hide & Seek with Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning. Remember that one? No? That’s probably for the best. It will take some mental adjustment to accept Jacob Tremblay as a potential threat and not as an adorable kid who needs saving from a terrible man with a prison shed.

Shut In is released on 11 November in the US. No UK release date has been announced.
