She-Hulk TV series gets Rick And Morty writer Jessica Gao

‘Pickle Rick’ writer Jessica Gao has signed up to lead the writing team for Disney+’s She-Hulk series

Disney+’s upcoming Marvel Studios series She-Hulk has found its lead writer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jessica Gao, the scribe behind Rick And Morty‘s Season 3 episode ‘Pickle Rick‘ has hopped aboard the project.

Gao has signed up to develop the series, as well as lead the writers’ room. The news comes shortly after the announcement that Marvel’s Moon Knight series is being led by The Umbrella Academy‘s Jeremy Slater.

Alongside Rick And Morty, Gao has also served on the writing staff for Silicon ValleyThe Mighty B! and Robot Chicken. She is also lined up to write the script for the film adaptation of YA novel series Sweet Valley High.

She-Hulk, also known as Jennifer Susan Walters, was created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, and made her first comic book appearance in Savage She-Hulk #1 in February 1980. She was the last major character to be co-created by Lee.

The character is an attorney and the cousin of Bruce Banner, AKA the Incredible Hulk. She gained mild Hulk-like powers after receiving an emergency blood transfusion from Bruce. However, unlike Bruce she retains her intelligence, her emotional control and most of her personality when transformed into She-Hulk.
