SGU season two begins shooting tomorrow

Actress says the cast have the first five scripts, and that the back half of season one has a lot in store for fans.

48169902Stargate Universe will begin shooting its second season tomorrow, according to actress Elyse Levesque.

Speaking to SciFiNow in a telephone interview from Vancouver this evening, Levesque, who plays Chloe Armstrong, confirmed that the show was gearing up again. “We start shooting tomorrow. Today was just a day where they have us all coming in, ask us to do some read-throughs, do some hair and make-up tests, all that kind of stuff,” she said. “It’s so good to be back, I’ve missed everybody.”

Stargate Universe is about to begin airing the back half of its first season in the United States and United Kingdom, and the show itself has had a lengthy break. Levesque, however, believes this has benefited rather than hindered the cast. “We shoot for a really long time – we go for about eight months, it’s a long haul. But I think having time off was good, it means you’re all reinvigorated and ready to go again, we’re all very excited and we’ve got the first five scripts. It’s looking pretty good and we’re eager to get back at it.”

Regarding the episodes that are about to air after nearly four months off screen, the actress was also particularly positive. One of the consistent comments about Universe has been its markedly slow pacing from previous iterations of the franchise such as Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, which have been far more action-orientated. Levesque believes that patience on the part of fans will be rewarded in the coming weeks. “Honestly, I think the back half of the season is… it kind of kicks up full gear and it’s just go-go-go-go-go for the last ten episodes. I think that it has a lot of things that the fans are just going to go crazy for, so I’m really excited to see the reaction to what we have in store.”

Stargate Universe returns in April on Sky1 in the UK, and Syfy in the US.
