Data reveals large audience for new show.

stargate_universe_cast_photo-5Stargate Universe, the third television series in the Stargate franchise, has found a decent following in the United Kingdom. Ratings data is being described by Sky1, which broadcasts the show, as the best in five years for a Stargate show.

The debut episode figures came in at 891,000 for live viewing, with the second episode at 840,000. Both broadcasts received a boost from Sky+ figures, equivalent to Live figures in the United States from DVR and TiVo, with the debut episode consolidating at 1.24 million viewers overall. The second episode also consolidated at over 1 million.

According to Sky, this is more than double the same-day average of Stargate Atlantis during its final season on UK television, and the best result since Stargate SG-1 scored a Live+ Vosdal audience of 935,000 in 2004. Stargate Universe is broadcast on Tuesday evenings on Sky1 and Sky1 HD.
