Universal has announced that Seventh Son, starring Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes and Julianne Moore, has been delayed until 6 February 2015.

Screenrant reports that the film has been part of the studio’s reshuffle, which includes moving Duncan Jones’ Warcraft film back three months to 11 March 2016 to avoid clashing with Star Wars.

The reason for Seventh Son moving back so far from its release date early next year, after it had already been pushed back from its its February, then October 2013 release date, is unclear, although the site suggests it might be to do with the film moving from Warner Bros to Universal.

Based on the books by Joseph Delaney, Seventh Son is “A 18th century adventure story centered on young Thomas, who is apprenticed to the local Spook to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away.” It also stars Antje Traue, Alicia Vikander, Djimon Hounsou, Olivia Williams and Kit Harington.

You can buy The Spook’s Apprentice by Joseph Delaney in paperback for £3.85 at Amazon.co.uk.
