Sean Astin stars in Cabin Fever reboot

Hobbit hero Sean Astin bleeds from the eyes in the reboot of Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever, filming August 2012 in the Dominican Republic. Is this definitely going to be rubbish?

Cabin Fever: Patient Zero is expected in cinemas 2013.

Lord Of The Rings‘ Sean Astin, voted Hobbit Least Likely To Succeed, has signed up for a reboot of Eli Roth‘s Cabin Fever, joining a cast that already includes such hard-hitting genre names as Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel‘s Brando Eaton and Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules‘ Ben Hollingsworth.

Entitled Cabin Fever: Patient Zero and due to begin filming in the Dominican Republic in August under director Kaare Andrews and from a script by The Hitcher‘s Jake Wade Wall, which according to The Hollywood Reporter, involves “a bachelor party cruise in the Caribbean unexpectedly runs ashore on a medical research island and a deadly virus is unleashed. The passengers must struggle to find a way to survive before their own demons and the flesh-eating bacteria consumes them all.”

The fun doesn’t stop there, the sequel Cabin Fever: Outbreak is also in production.
