Unashamed horror-based TV shows are clearly the future, as MTV have announced a TV series based on Wes Craven’s pioneering, post-modernĀ Scream movies, to join the likes of American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, and the proposed Psycho prequel series, Bates Motel.
According to TV Line, “former MTV execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, who are shepherding the project under their DiGa production shingle, are on the hunt for a writer to pen the pilot.”
Neither DiSanto nor Gateley have much in the way of horror pedigree, and its unknown at this point whether or not Craven will be involved – meaning our only points of reference are current MTV shows Teen Wolf and Death Valley.
Yikes, basically. What do you think a Scream TV series will need to make it work?
