Scream: Resurrection stars Mary J Blige, RJ Cyler, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, CJ Wallace and Giullian Yao Gioiello, with an appearance by Paris Jackson.

The new season consists of six episodes, and fans in the US can expect it to debut on VH1 on Monday 8 July. From there, it will run for 2 hours per night (starting at 9pm) until Wednesday 10 July, meaning cliffhangers won’t be a problem.

The story will follow RJ Cyler’s Deion Elliot, an Atlanta star football player whose tragic past comes back to haunt him and threaten his plans for the future, as well as the lives of his group of friends.

The Vampire Diaries‘ Brett Matthews has joined the series as showrunner and executive producer, alongside other EPs Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere, and Yaneley Arty of Flavor Unit Entertainment. Wes Craven (Scream movies director), Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena, and Cathy Konrad are all also on the executive producing team, as well as Maggie Malina and Dana Gotlieb-Carter, who are executive producing for MTV.
