We’re eagerly pouncing on any small bit of information about The Sandman movie from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jack Thorne and David S Goyer, and two of the three have recently spoken about the state of the script and have stressed Neil Gaiman’s involvement.
In a Reddit AMA, Gordon-Levitt revealed that he’s “Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne, working on the screenplay. We’ve been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin rad place to work. Also just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he’s the one I want to please most.”
Speaking to Deadline, Goyer was cagey about the progress of the movie but he did say that this most recent effort to bring The Sandman to screen is different from the ones that came before it.
“I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team. We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”
It’s certainly reassuring to hear that Gaiman has been involved, and that all involved are working hard to create a draft that he is happy with, as well as Warners. Now they just need to, you know, make it. Please.
