Created by Stargate SG-1 producer and Stargate Atlantis writer Damian Kindler, and starring Amanda Tapping who made her name on both, Sanctuary has followed its spiritual predecessor into cancellation, with Syfy announcing on Monday 21 May 2012 that the series was no more.

Amanda Tapping told fans on Twitter, “We love and adore you. Thank you for the love and support. Now to the long dark tea time of my soul.”

Stars Robin Dunne and Ryan Robbins weighed in with their thoughts too.

“Thanks to our wonderful fans for four years of love and support,” said Dunne. “You gave us a great life. See you on the next one.”

“Truly overwhelmed by all the wonderful Sanctuary messages,” added Robbins. “You guys continue to be full of awesomeness. #bestfansever.”

For Stargate fans, this will probably seem like the final nail in the coffin for their relationship with Syfy. Do you think Sanctuary Season 5 should get another chance?
