Rumour round-up

A summary of the main rumours reported over the weekend.

Rather than report full articles on the rumours circulating various outlets today, we decided to give you a round-up of the most newsworthy. Remember that these are not confirmed, and should be taken with a large pinch of salt in most cases.

Jeremy Renner for Mad Max? – AICN picked up this report in The Modesto Bee, containing a quote from Jeremy Renner that he will be screen testing for Mad Max 4 soon. The actor, who recently starred in The Hurt Locker, said that he would complete the test and meet with George Miller next summer.

Rob Marshall to direct Pirates 4? – Variety is running a story today that links Nine director Rob Marshall with the in-limbo Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, currently without a helmer after Gore Verbinski passed on the option to direct the next instalment.

Hitman 2 without Olyphant? – The sequel to Hitman, adapted from the videogame, may go forward without its star Timothy Olyphant, according to Coming Soon. The website quotes the actor as saying that it is not on his upcoming slate, although he does “suppose” they could have him.

Liev Schreiber to leave Sabertooth? – If you believe that Schreiber hasn’t signed a multi-picture deal for reprising the character, it could be bad news for Sabertooth fans. Cinema Blend is reporting that Schreiber is reluctant to commit to the physical requirements of the role, given his new status as an over-40.

True Lies II? – Tom Arnold recently spoke to The New York Times, in an interview where he said that he will soon be in an upcoming film with Arnold Schwarzenegger, helmed by James Cameron. Shooting will, according to the comedian/actor, begin a day after Arnie leaves office as the Governor of California.
