Following the news that the brilliant Laverne Cox (Orange Is The New Black) has been cast as Dr Frank N Furter in Fox’s TV remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show last October, the studio has finally added some more actors to the mix.
Victoria Justice (Victorious, Zoey 101) will be taking on the lead non-alien role of Janet Weiss, who was originally played by Susan Sarandon in the 1975 film version. Her on-screen fiance Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick in the film) will be played by Ryan McCartan, who is best known as Diggie from Liv And Maddie to Disney Channel fans, and as bad boy JD in Heathers: The Musical to musical theatre fans. We’re expecting (hoping) his interpretation of Brad to be more in the spirit of Heathers than Disney Channel.
Richard O’Brien’s iconic Transylvanian handyman and Peter Hinwood’s creation have also been cast. Penny Dreadful‘s Reeve Carney will be taking on the role of Riff Raff, and we have it on good authority that he can sing given that he starred as Peter Parker in Spiderman Broadway musical Turn Off The Dark in 2010. Rocky will be played by former X-Factor auditionee Staz Nair, who is also due to appear in Game Of Thrones Season 6 later this year.
