According to Deadline, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes director Rupert Wyatt has declined to return to the franchise for the follow-up – rumoured to be called Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes – because of the tight turnaround time insisted upon by 20th Century Fox in order for the movie to be in cinemas by 23 May 2014.

The studio are reported to be satisfied with the script turned in by The Relic writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who have also signed up for the long-mooted Jurassic Park 4, and filming is due to start soon.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is available on DVD for £7.57 and Blu-ray for £10 from Amazon.co.uk.
