Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2 is now Alien: Covenant

Ridley Scott keeps fiddling with the title for his Prometheus sequel

Remember when Prometheus 2 wasn’t Prometheus 2 anymore, it was Alien: Paradise Lost? Yeah, well…it’s not that anymore either.

The Playlist reports that Scott, while speaking at the AFI, told the audience that the sequel to his divisive Prometheus is now called Alien: Covenant.

There was no reason given for the title change, although possibly to avoid the idea that the movie would be actually a retelling of John Milton’s epic poem? Maybe?

Other recent updates to the film include the fact that Spectre and Penny Dreadful writer John Logan has been brought on board to punch up the script, and that Neill Blomkamp’s direct Alien sequel has had to take a seat on the bench indefinitely until Scott’s movie is done and dusted, and possibly longer. The movie will shoot in Australia in February.

We will of course be keeping a close eye for any further news and/or title changes.

Alien: Covenant will be released on 30 May 2017. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
