For those who are unfamiliar with Ready Player One, the thrust of the narrative sees young protagonist Wade (Tye Sheridan) locating one of the clues within the pop-culture-infused environs of the in-game world, only to immediately find himself beset by rival players, some of who are willing to kill in order to discover OASIS’s secrets – including the sinister suits of Innovative Online Industries, who are seeking to appropriate and regulate it for their own ends.
The cast of Ready Player One includes Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance, TJ Miller and Win Morisaki, with Spielberg working from a script put together by Zak Penn and Eric Eason. Donald De Line, Dan Farah and Kristie Macosko Krieger are all attached in producing capacity.
