A new Preacher trailer hit Comic-Con ahead of the show’s final few episodes, and it gives us a taste of what’s still to come on the first season of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin’s take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s classic comic.
The first season has been taking things a little slow but there’s definitely been a ramp-up in the last couple of episodes. With that in mind, this trailer makes it look like the last couple of episodes should be action packed.
We’ve got DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef) and Fiore (Tom Brooke) tracking down The Saint Of Killers (Graham McTavish) and hiring him to kill somebody (yep, that’d be Jesse), which is very exciting. McTavish has been excellent with the two episodes he’s been given so far, and it’s about time that The Cowboy stepped in.
We’ve also got Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) finally looking like they’re setting out on their mission to find God. “God wants our help, we’ll help him. If he doesn’t, we’re gonna kick his ass.”
On the one hand, we’ve definitely been enjoying the ground work that the show has put into developing the town of Annville, and the performances have all been excellent (we’ve particularly been impressed by Lucy Griffiths, W Earl Brown and the great Jackie Earle Haley). On the other, we’re definitely ready to see the show put its foot on the gas. There have been some brilliant highlights (that motel fight with the angels and Jesse was superb) but quite a lot of…wheel-spinning is unfair, but you know what we mean. Let’s get the hunt for God going!
