In the wake of the casting of Gabriel Chavarria as its first human cast member, the third Planet Of The Apes reboot War Of The Planet Of The Apes has now apparently added its first major villain of the piece, with The Hollywood Reporter announcing that The Hunger Games and True Detective star Woody Harrelson has arrived on board.
Although exact details about the role haven’t yet been disclosed, it has been confirmed that his character will be called ‘the Colonel’. Considering that Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes ended with human reinforcements being called, and Caesar and his ape army readying themselves for war, we’re putting our smart money on him being the leader of the human forces. Considering the human race’s predominantly antagonistic stance thus far, it’s looking like he won’t be all that much of a nice guy either.
Harrelson joins fellow cast members Andy Serkis and Gabriel Chavarria on War Of The Planet Of The Apes, which will again be directed by Matt Reeves, who is also co-writing the script with Mark Bomback.
War Of The Planet Of The Apes will be released in cinemas in 2017. For more on the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
