It appears that the good ship Pirates Of The Caribbean isn’t laying anchor any time soon, as fifth film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has cast its latest leading/supporting man, writes Deadline.
Starring alongside Johnny Depp and Christoph Waltz will be Australian up-and-comer Brenton Thwaites. The Home And Away alumni has most recently been seen in the likes of Oculus, Maleficent and The Giver, and his future appearances include Julius Avery’s Son Of A Gun alongside Ewan McGregor and Alex Proyas’ Gods Of Egypt in 2016.
The nature of his role hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, but we’re betting it’ll be in the mould of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner from the first three films, or Sam Claflin’s Philip from fourth film On Stranger Tides.
Despite the new casting choices and new directing team (Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, responsible for exploration epic Kon Tiki and the first episode of upcoming Netflix drama Marco Polo, will take the helm this time around), rumours persist that we will see a number of faces from previous films returning. We’ll wait and see on that one…
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales will be released on 7 July 2017. Keep up with the latest blockbuster movie news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
