Penny Dreadful isn’t exactly a show that’s thin on the ground with regards big names, what with the likes of Timothy Dalton, Eva Green and Josh Hartnett arguably being more at home on the big screen than TV. Regardless, it seems as though they haven’t given up on the ambitious casting front, with Entertainment Weekly confirming that Manhunter and X2 star Brian Cox will join the series for Season 3.
According to the report, he will be playing Ethan (Josh Hartnett)’s mysterious father Talbot, who the former has been running from since the pilot episode. He is described as a “powerful rancher…who has long been on the hunt for his son. Talbot will stop at nothing to bring Ethan back west to settle the score.” Considering how determined Ethan has been up until now to avoid encountering him, we can imagine him being a pretty formidable presence.
Cox joins a cast that already includes new additions Wes Studi (Avatar), Shazad Latif (We Are Monster), Christian Camargo (Europa Report), Sam Barnett (Lost Dog), Jessica Barden (The Lobster) and Perdita Weeks (As Above, So Below).
