Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels adds Piper Perabo to the cast

Piper Perabo has joined the cast of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful spin-off City Of Angels

Showtime’s upcoming Penny Dreadful spin-off series City Of Angels has added Piper Perabo to the cast, according to THR.

Perabo is set to play Linda Craft, the wife of Rory Kinnear’s Dr Peter Craft. She is a mother of two and is described as “a fading American Beauty rose disappointed with her husband and bored with his constrained suburban life”.

The actress is best know for her roles in Coyote Ugly, the Cheaper By The Dozen series and Looper, as well as cult lesbian films Lost And Delirious and Imagine Me And You. More recently, she played CIA Agent Annie Walker, the lead role in USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

She joins a cast made up of Natalie Dormer (Game Of Thrones), Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful), Daniel Zavotto (Don’t Breathe), Nathan Lane (The Birdcage), Jessica Garza (The Purge), Johnathan Nieves (New Amsterdam), Adam Rodriguez (Criminal Minds), Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong), Lorenza Izzo (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Michael Gladis (Mad Men), Dominic Sherwood (Shadowhunters) and Ethan Peck (Star Trek: Discovery).

City Of Angels is set in 1930s Los Angeles, a time and place deeply infused with Mexican-American folklore and social tension. The series will be rooted in the conflict between characters connected to the deity Santa Muerte and others allied with the devil, and will explore a mix of the supernatural and the combustible reality of that period, creating new occult myths and moral dilemmas within a historical backdrop. The show is worlds away from its Victorian London-set counterpart, and new characters and storylines will feature.

Penny Dreadful creator John Logan will produce through his Desert Wolf Productions banner, with Michael Aguilar and Neal Street Productions’ Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris executive producing alongside him. James Bagley will co-executive produce.
