Paradox scores 4.1 million viewing figures

The Beeb’s answer to FlashForward pulls in the viewers.

199233The BBC’s new sci-fi series, Paradox, debuted on television screens last night with some strong viewing figures.

Starring Tamzin Outhwaite and written by Lizzie Mickery, this first episode in the series racked up 4.1 million viewers in its 9pm slot. In the grand scheme of things this accounts for 16.3 per cent of overall TV watchers during this time period. Not surprisingly the show came second to the reality juggernaut that is I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, which pulled in the evening’s big numbers with 7.8 million. The horror.

Playing out a little bit like Minority Report for the small screen, Paradox stars Tamzin Outhwaite as a detective inspector investigating major events that are set to happen in the future. Last night’s episode involved a plot to explode a bomb near a railway station and ended on a slight cliffhanger. But is this enough to attract more viewers and build on these promising ratings?
