Orphan Black Season 5 set to start airing in June

Orphan Black’s final season gets an air date, oh god

Holy fish sticks! After four seasons of clones, conspiracies and plot twists, Orphan Black has revealed the fifth and final season’s air date.

The sci-fi thriller is set to start making its final descent on 10 June 2017 on BBC America. As with the last two seasons, we’re presuming episodes will be released on Netflix the following day for fans in the UK.

Speaking at Comic-Con last year, co-creator John Fawcett said: “The focus of season five, obviously, is we all want answers, goddammit.

“Much as planning the final season is bittersweet, the fun is knowing the ending. Because we’ve known it for a long time. So that’s pretty cool.”

Fawcett’s co-creator Graeme Manson added to the hype, saying: “We always sort of had five seasons in mind, and the thing that we just didn’t want to do is get kind of soft around the middle. We really think that it’s cooler to cancel yourself than to get canceled, than to peter out.”

After spending the last 40 episodes getting to know and falling in love with Sarah, Allison, Cosima, Helena and, hell, even Rachel, we’re really not ready for Orphan Black to be over. But, damnit, we also want answers. Lots of answers. Hopefully Fawcett and Manson will go easy on us and not leave it on a cliffhanger.

If you’re not already familiar with Orphan Black, we suggest you definitely check it out. Aside from the intense storyline, star Tatiana Maslany somehow plays, like, all of the main characters and heaps of supporting ones, and she’s brilliant. She finally won a much-deserved Emmy for her many Orphan Black performances last year.

It’s also really funny and sweet and great. We just love this show so much. <3
