This third Narnia adventure sails ever closer to release.

Aslanscountry_dawntreaderlogo20th Century Fox has released a batch of new images for its upcoming fantasy sequel, The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.

Following a publicised spilt, which resulted in Disney and studio Walden Media parting ways, it seems that Walden Media and new distributor 20th Century Fox are very much on course to give fans another thrilling fantasy adventure. Story-wise this third instalment in CS Lewis’s books series sees Edmund and Lucy Pevensie jumping aboard the titular ship, the Dawn Treader, and embarking on a swashbuckling journey with King Caspian. En route to a mystical land this trio must battle through storms, sea monsters and invisible foes.

It’s been a case of diminishing returns for the Narnia franchise with 2005’s The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe scoring a worldwide gross of $745 million while three years later Prince Caspian only managed to rack up $419.6 million. This means that in order for the fourth entry in the saga, The Silver Chair, to become a reality on screen, The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader will need to more than double its reported $140 million budget in order for the franchise to sustain.
