Noomi Rapace will be in Alien Covenant after all

The star of Prometheus will show up in Alien Covenant

After the first reveal of the synopsis for Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s follow-up to Prometheus, conspicuous by her absence was original star Noomi Rapace – which was especially odd, considering that Michael Fassbender’s involvement as sinister android David had been confirmed. After all, her character, Elizabeth Shaw, was last seen carrying his severed head – where did she go in the meantime?

Happily, it looks like this question (and more) will be answered in a far more satisfactory manner than we previously anticipated, as according to a report on Deadline, the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star has joined the cast.

Their sources claim that she is currently on set in Australia, “shooting weeks worth of scenes”. What this means for the scale of her role is uncertain (did they miss off an ‘a’? In which case it’ll likely be a brief appearance, maybe a flashback), but in any case, it’s nice to see her back, even if it is only to tie up loose ends.

For those of you who are unfamiliar (or have forgotten), the synopsis is as follows: “Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.” In other words, expect the sinister android to fighting firmly against the side of the angels once again.

Rapace joins a cast that already includes Michaael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Billy Crudup, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez and Alexander England. Ridley Scott is directing a script penned by Michael Green, Jack Paglen and John Logan, with Mark Huffam, Walter Hill, David Giler and Michael Schaefer on producing duties.

Alien: Covenant will be released on 6 October 2017. You can download Alien: The Complete Manual from GreatDigitalMags.com now. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
