Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) has been cast as septuplets in Tommy Wirkola’s (Dead Snow, Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters) dystopian sci-fi What Happened To Monday?

Rapace will play seven different characters in the film that /Film reports is “set in an overpopulated society with a strictly enforced one-child policy, What Happened to Monday? will star Rapace as septuplets who try to hide in order to avoid execution. When one of the sisters disappears, the others must band together to solve the puzzle.”

The script by Max Botkin has been featured on the famous Black List, and originally had the main character as male. Wirkola stated that “Although the role was originally written for a male, I was struck by the complexities of having an actor portray seven characters and immediately knew Noomi was the ideal actor – male or female – to bring them to life.”

Wirkola is currently filming his sequel to Dead Snow, Dead Snow: Red Vs Dead, and this news presumably means he won’t be directing the in-development Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters sequel.

You can buy Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters on Blu-ray for £10 at Amazon.co.uk.
