New Tolkien movie on the way, and with nothing to do with Peter Jackson

Mirkwood’s mix of biography and fantasy gets the go ahead

Steve Hillard’s  Mirkwood, which tells a fictionalised tale of the life of Lord Of The Rings author JRR Tolkien as a man haunted by real magic and myths, has finally gotten approval from the notoriously protective Tolkien estate, and right on cue has been snapped up for movie adaptation.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hillard said of the film version, “The adaptation of Mirkwood will follow the template of the novel, but will delve considerably deeper into Tolkien’s little-known back story, such as his original plans to become a codebreaker in World War II up through the writing of his enduring works.”
