Natalie Portman is set to star in an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, according to Variety. As well as starring in this feature, Portman will be also be acting as producer, with her own Handsomecharlie Films overseeing the production. In addition to this, financing and distributing duties have been handed to Lionsgate Films.
In the film Portman will play an altogether different version of Jane Austen’s classic heroine, Elizabeth Bennet. Along with having to worry about class, that little matter of her father marrying off his daughters and the advances of Mr Darcy, Elizabeth is also faced with the task of fending off hordes of ravenous zombies. Thankfully, some kick-ass fighting skills she picked up in her travels render her something of an undead killing machine. This is basically the tone of Grahame-Smith’s novel, and if adapted correctly this could be a horror comedy with real class.
At this time no release date has been disclosed for Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.
