MR Carey to write new novel in The Girl With All The Gifts world

The Boy On The Bridge will take us back to the world of The Girl With All The Gifts

We loved MR Carey’s brilliant post-apocalyptic fable The Girl With All The Gifts, and we weren’t the only ones. The novel was a huge success and the film version, also written by Carey and starring Gemma Arterton, Paddy Considine and Glenn Close. is set to stun a whole new audience and fans alike.

So we’re very, very excited to hear that Carey is returning to the world he created for a new novel: The Boy On The Bridge.

The author announced that “Returning to the world of The Girl With All the Gifts felt like coming home in a weird way. And every time I visit I find something I didn’t know was there. The Boy on the Bridge is very much its own thing, not a continuation of Melanie’s story but a new journey with a new cast of characters. But it answers a lot of questions that The Girl With All the Gifts implicitly asked.”

Orbit Publisher Tim Holman said that “The Girl With All the Gifts has been a genuine word-of-mouth phenomenon and it’s getting bigger every month. We’ve already sold 600,000 copies worldwide and sold rights in twenty-nine languages – and of course we’re hugely looking forward to the movie coming later this year. It’s a wonderful novel that has redefined a genre and been embraced by an extraordinary range of readers. The Boy on the Bridge is equally brilliant – and we can’t wait to publish it.”

We’re huge fans of Carey’s work (the Felix Castor novels, Lucifer, his run on Hellblazer to name a few) so it’s great to hear he’s retuning to such a vivid world with a new story. In the meantime, the film of The Girl With All The Gifts is released on 23 September.
