Metal Gear Solid movie gets a Monsters writer

Monsters: The Dark Continent writer signs on to turn Metal Gear Solid into a movie

Metal Gear SolidThe previously announced Metal Gear Solid movie has found a writer to bring Solid Snake to the big screen.

Deadline reports that Monsters: The Dark Continent‘s Jay Basu has signed on to script the film based on the game by Hideo Kojima, which is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer).

The film comes from Avi and Ari Arad, and focuses on a “soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit. Snake must liberate two hostages — one the president of a major arms manufacturer — confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike.”

Basu is a popular choice at the moment; he’s also writing one of Universal’s monster movie reboots.
