The upcoming Men In Black spin-off finally has a solid link to the original film trilogy (besides the title): Agent O.
The new film is officially set to bring back the brilliant Emma Thompson as Agent O, the chief of the MiB.
Thompson first appeared as the character in the most recent film in the series, Men In Black 3 (2012), portraying Agent O in the present day scenes. Alice Eve played a younger version of O when the film time-hopped back to the sixties.
Thompson joins stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. They play a pair of London-based MiB agents who find themselves caught up in a worldwide murder mystery.
Also starring is Liam Neeson as the head of the London branch of MiB, as well as Rafe Spall (The Ritual), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sleep) and Sartaj Garewal (The Infidel).
The film, which is currently untitled, is set to be a straight-up spin-off of the original three, and will take place in the Men In Black world but with a new cast of characters.
It’s being directed by F Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton), produced by Walter F Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, both of whom worked on Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight, are writing the script.
The untitled Men In Black spin-off will be in cinemas on 14 June 2019. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
