Following the cancellation of the US remake of The Returned, the excellent Mary Elizabeth Winstead is heading back to TV with a project that sounds like it leans into “genre” a little more obviously….
The Wrap reports that the star of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and Faults will play the lead in BrainDead, the new show from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King.
She’ll play “Laurel, a young Capitol Hill staffer who, after getting her first job in Washington, D.C., discovers that the government has stopped working and aliens have come to earth and eaten the brains of Congressmen and Hill staffers.”
BrainDead is being described as The Strain meets The West Wing, which sounds like it could be a fun combination. Not exactly what we were expecting from the creators of The Good Wife, but still.
The show has a 13 episode order and will air next summer on CBS. Winstead vs brain eating aliens, in the White House. Sold.
