Marvel’s Most Wanted confirms first cast member

Agents Of SHIELD spinoff Marvel’s Most Wanted has its first cast member

Agents Of SHIELD spinoff Marvel’s Most Wanted has been hovering in the background for a while now. First it was commissioned, then it was put on hold, and now it seems that it’s definitely back on again, with its first cast member being officially confirmed.

Joining Nick Blood (Lance Hunter) and Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi ‘Mockingbird’ Morse) on board the show – produced by Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski – as they spin out of Agents Of SHIELD is Delroy Lindo (Up, Gone In 60 Seconds, Believe), who will be playing Dominic Fortune. A fairly minor character in the comics, having first shown up in Marvel Preview #2 way back in 1975, he started off life as a costumed crime-fighter (wearing a rather fetching jester ensemble).

Interestingly, his destiny seems to have intertwined with various Marvel heavy hitters along the way, having protected a pre-Project Rebirth Steve Rogers from bullies (not to mention himself being rejected as a candidate), encountering Doctor Doom’s parents, assisting Iron Man in a battle against the Iron Monger and even briefly being recruited by Nick Fury into the ‘Avengers Initiative’.

More recently, he has had a revival of sorts, showing up in the Hawkeye & Mockingbird series, and popping up in SHIELD #11 in 2015. It would seem likely that his portrayal in Marvel’s Most Wanted will at least in part draw on these portrayals, but as is always the case in the MCU, expect this to be expanded somewhat.

Speaking about the role, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said, “Dominic Fortune carries with him a cunning and charm but also a dangerous edge that only Delroy could bring to life… We’re thrilled to have him join the show.”

A release date for Marvel’s Most Wanted is yet to be announced. You can find out more about the characters and the comics that inspired them by picking up the latest edition of 100 All-Time Greatest Comics.
