Against a backdrop of glory in the run up to the cinema release of Kick-Ass 2, Mark Millar’s CLiNT comic anthology, which serialised Millar and John Romita Jr’s Kick-Ass 2 and Millar and Leinil Francis Yu’s sublime Superior, Jonathan Ross and Tony Lee’s Turf and more, has announced it will be ending on issue 2.8.

According to CBR, Millar wrote, “I’m extremely proud to have worked with some of the best people in the industry since we started putting this together four years ago, and feel Titan are onto something great, with what Nick [Landau] has dubbed Phase Two of his grand plan: a wide range of American-format comics, appearing under the watchful eye of über-editor Chris Teather,” said Millar in his farewell letter to CLiNT readers.

“If CLiNT was the supergroup, this is us returning to our solo careers, refreshed and reenergised, with new sounds and new purpose – and always with one eye on reforming for the big stadium tour not too far down the line.”

Although much doom has been made of the magazine’s relaunch – the stripping away of the lifestyle elements in favour of more comics, and the move from a big traditional newsstand push to the comic store – those were only natural steps in the launch of any magazine, and the move toward individual comic-books from Titan is a logical next step.

CLiNT hasn’t died; CLiNT has levelled up.
