Luke Cage Season 2 confirmed. Sweet Christmas

Plus, get your first glimpse at Luke Cage’s next season

In a piece of news that will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone who watched it (but is still very welcome nonetheless), with it being confirmed that Netflix has renewed Marvel’s Luke Cage for a second season.

The news was broken via the official Luke Cage Twitter account, who released the following video:

All in all, we’re happy with this piece of news. For our money, Season 1 of Luke Cage is the strongest of all the Marvel Nertflix series we’ve seen to date (as we put forward in our review), so it’s good to see that creator Cheo Hodari Coker will get a chance to continue the story, even if it was never in any doubt, in all honesty.

Aside from Mike Colter himself (obviously), it’s hard to say exactly who’s returning without knowing what occurs during the events of The Defenders. Cast members Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) and Simone Missick (Misty Knight) will both be starring, and providing they don’t get killed off (which we honestly can’t see happening) then we’re sure that they will be in line for a return, as will the likes of Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard and Theo Rossi as Shades.

As regards an air date, again it’s not completely clear as to when it’ll occur. Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher, Season 2 of Jessica Jones and possibly Season 3 of Daredevil will all air before it, so it’s likely that we will be waiting a long time before Luke Cage returns to defend the streets of Harlem once more. Regardless, we’re just glad for the confirmation that it’s actually happening – as everyone else will likely be.

A release date for Season 2 of Marvel’s Luke Cage is yet to be announced. For all the latest TV news, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
