Luke Cage air date confirmed. Sweet Christmas!

Find out when you’ll be able to watch Marvel’s Luke Cage on Netflix

It’s not all that long until Daredevil Season 2 hits our computer screens, but as is always the case with Marvel, they are looking far beyond that – to new series Luke Cage, to be precise. Now, we finally have an air date for it. Yes, according to none other than Mike Colter, Marvel’s third Netflix series will be available to stream worldwide on 30 September 2016.

Speaking at Daredevil‘s Season 2 premiere in New York, Colter, who will be playing Cage, revealed the news, saying, “Daredevil premieres on March 18, and I will see the fans on September 30.” Granted, it’s not officially from Marvel, but until there’s a retraction we’re taking it as gospel.

Having made his debut in Jessica Jones, Luke Cage will see Colter take centre stage, taking place both before and after his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The synopsis describes him as “a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.”

Cheo Hodari Coker is serving as showrunner on the series, as well as producing alongside Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb. Starring alongside Colter as Cage is Mahershala Ali (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Predators) as Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes, Alfre Woodard (True Blood, 12 Years A Slave) as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick (Ray Donovan, A Taste Of Romance) as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi (Cloverfield, Sons Of Anarchy) as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Sonia Braga (Kiss Of The Spider Woman, Angel Eyes) as Soledad Temple, and Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Sin City) reprising her role as her daughter Claire.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will be available to stream worldwide on Netflix from 30 September 2016. For more news about the latest shows, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
