Legion Season 2 gets 10 episodes, casts the Shadow King

Legion gets ten episodes and a Shadow King for Season 2

Over the months in which Legion hasn’t been on our screens, we’ve really missed it. We never realise how much until a new bit of news about the show crops up out of nowhere.

It seems as though many people feel the same, as San Diego Comic-Con’s Ballroom 20 went wild this weekend when Legion‘s cast and crew took to the stage for its very first Comic-Con panel. With it came a couple of excellent news nuggets.

Firstly, it was confirmed that Season 2 would in fact be getting ten episodes, as opposed to the eight we lapped up during Season 1. More Legion is the best Legion.

Secondly, showrunner and creator Noah Hawley revealed that the Shadow King would be played by Wonder Woman‘s Saïd Taghmaoui.

For those unfamiliar, the Shadow King is an entity of pure psychic energy that feeds on the hatred of humanity, manifesting itself by possessing human bodies. For many years it occupied the body of Amahl Farouk, who Taghmaoui will be playing. The Shadow King first appeared in the comic-book world in 1979 in Uncanny X-Men #117, and was created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne.

One question that is still on many fans’ minds is: will Professor X be making an appearance on the show, what with him being lead character David Haller’s father and everything? We expected the cast and crew to remain mum on that query, but David actor Dan Stevens surprisingly had an answer.

Talking about Professor X actor Patrick Stewart, he said: “I like to call him ‘pops’. I was on a talk show with him and he said he was up for it.” We guess we’ll see…
