Leatherface Texas Chainsaw prequel finds director

The directors for Texas Chainsaw prequel Leatherface have been chosen and we’re excited

LeatherfaceSo, that Texas Chainsaw prequel Leatherface that was looking for a director? Well, it’s found them. And now we’re a bit excited.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo have signed on to direct Leatherface.

The French duo burst onto the horror scene with their blood-soaked masterpiece Inside (A l’Interieur), before surprising audiences with their artful dark fairytale Livid (Livide). This year, FrightFest attendees got to see their Stephen King homage Among The Living (Aux Yeux Des Vivants), and they also contributed a segment to The ABCs Of Death 2.

It’s not the first time that Maury and Bustillo have been approached by a major horror franchise; they were linked to the still-in-limbo Hellraiser reboot and the execrable A Nightmare On Elm Street remake. This time, however, it looks like they’ve finally committed.

While we certainly not fans of 2013’s Texas Chainsaw, the idea of filmmakers as exciting as Maury and Bustillo taking on such an iconic character means that we will be taking our scepticism down at least three or four notches. Fingers crossed that they’re given the freedom to do it their own way.

You can buy Livid on Blu-ray for £6 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
