Jurassic World 2 first look and even more casting news

JA Bayona’s Jurassic World 2 adds another name and teases a legacy

With Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 just around the corner, it’s important not to forget about that other massive genre franchise starring Chris Pratt. Thankfully, Jurassic World 2 director JA Bayona is keeping active on Twitter, giving us our first look at the next instalment in the dino franchise and announcing a new addition to the cast.

First up: that first look…

Before that, however, he tweeted that casting news…

The great Geraldine Chaplin will be re-teaming with Bayona after playing the head teacher in his heartbreaking A Monster Calls, the ghost expert in his terrifying The Orphanage (her sequence still gives us the shivers), and the Old Woman in his true story disaster movie The Impossible. Her amazing and eclectic CV includes films like Pedro Almodovar’s Talk To Her, Guy Maddin’s The Forbidden Room, and Richard Attenborough’s biopic of her father: Chaplin.

She joins the returning Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong, as well as newcomers Rafe Spall, James Cromwell, Toby Jones, Justice Smith, Danielle Pineda and Ted Levine. Jurassic World‘s Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow are on screenwriting duties.

Now, details about this Jurassic World sequel will actually be about are extremely scarce. It’s not even got an official title yet. However, Bayona is a hugely impressive director who has assembled a very exciting cast. While we had fun with Jurassic World, there’s definitely room for improvement. We’ll have to wait until next year to see if this kicks John Hammond’s life’s work up a notch.

The untitled Jurassic World sequel is in cinemas from 8 June 2018. Get all the latest science fiction newswith every issue of SciFiNow.
