The Wachowskis’ upcoming sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending, starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, has been delayed until February 2015.

Variety reports that the film, “set at a time when humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, follows a woman targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe,” has been pushed back due to Warner Bros’ concerns over there being simply too much left to do before the July release date, particularly regarding the 2,000-plus effects shots.

Domestic distribtion chief Dan Fellman told Variety that “With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time. A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.”

Variety also notes that Fellman stressed that the new release date is the same as The Lego Movie‘s this year, which was a huge success for the studio.

Jupiter Ascending will now be released on 6 February 2015. You can buy Cloud Atlas on DVD for £5 at Amazon.co.uk.
