Having already seen concept art of Dwayne Johnson as the brilliantly named Dr Bravestone in Jake Kasdan’s new take on Jumanji, we can now reveal what the rest of the main cast look like, with Kevin Hart having released a shot of himself, Johnson, Karen Gillan and Jack Black in character on the set, as you can see below:
So it’s all fairly standard: Johnson is just Johnson, Hart his sidekick, Gillan puzzlingly scantily clad, and Black probably as some professor of sorts.
Some will still see any attempt to remake Joe Johnston’s Robin Williams-starring original as a major form of scarilege, but we’re not too worried. It’s a strong core cast, and as long as it goes off in a suitably different direction (it looks like we’ll actually head into the jungle this time around), we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
With Kasdan directing, working alongside him on screenwriting duties are Jonathan Hensleigh, Greg Taylor, Jim Strain and Chris Van Allsburg.
