Jessica Jones Season 2 confirmed for Netflix

Marvel’s second Netflix series Jessica Jones will be back for year 2

It may not exactly be surprising news, but it’s welcome nonetheless, considering how much we (and seemingly everyone else) enjoyed the first season. Yes, Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been confirmed to return for a second season.

One of the many nuggets of news to be confirmed at the TCAs winter press tour, Jessica Jones was Netflix’s most-watched show of the second half of 2015 (beating the likes of Master Of None and Narcos), so it’s good to see that it’ll be back for more.

In terms of storytelling direction, there’s plenty of places for the show to go. In total, there are four volumes of the Jessica Jones-fronted Alias out there, and three volumes of The Pulse (which Jones also headlines), so the options of where to go are myriad.

The only thing that isn’t confirmed at the moment is when it will actually air. Sister show Luke Cage will be released on Netflix at some point this year, and with Iron Fist and team-up The Defenders still to have air dates confirmed, it’s unconfirmed as to where a second season of Jessica Jones fits in, especially considering that she’s expected to at the very least make a cameo appearance in most of those shows.

SPOILERS FROM SEASON 1 AHEAD FROM HERE. Whatever happens, we’d expect most of the cast to return, with the exception of David Tennant, whose villainous Killgrave met his demise at Jones’ hands in the Season 1 finale. Maybe now we will see Alias Investigations really kick on in earnest, what with recovering drug addict Malcolm (Eka Darville) taking it upon herself to help out Jones (Krysten Ritter). In terms of other directions, wil Will Simpson (Wil Traval) go full-on Nuke, like his character in the comics? Will Trish (Rachael) continue to unleash her inner Hellcat? Only time will tell, but we can’t wait.
