Jessica Jones: Marvel casting new Jewel for Netflix TV

Find out who’s under consideration for the next shows from the makers of Daredevil

jessjones_120513_1280-daredevil-jessica-jones-could-the-defenders-make-their-way-to-the-big-screenWith the Daredevil TV show on the way, it appears that Marvel are now looking to push ahead with casting for its sister show Jessica Jones, according to Deadline.

Those rumoured to be screen-testing for the role include Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson, True Detective), Krysten Ritter (Vamps, Don’t Trust The B**** In Apartment 23), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, I Am Number 4), Jessica De Gouw (Arrow, These Final Hours), Marin Ireland (Side Effects, I Am Legend).

For those who don’t know a lot about the character, Jessica Jones is a former schoolmate of a certain Peter Parker (Spider-Man, in case you’re one of the few who didn’t know) who gains the powers of super-strength, flight and limited invulnerability after being involved in a car crash (radioactive chemicals were involved) that killed her parents. After a brief but unsuccessful superhero career, she gained popularity as a private eye in the critically acclaimed comic-book series Alias, which the series – guided by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg – will reportedly be heavily inspired by.

Jessica Jones will air some time on Netflix in 2015. For more on the comics that have inspired the show, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
