Jessica Chastain doesn’t say no to playing Beverly in IT: Part 2

Jessica Chastain is asked the IT 2 question and gives a carefully worded positive answer

Now that we’ve had IT: Part One, the big question is: who’ll be playing the grown-up versions of the Losers’ Club in the sequel?

Jessica Chastain is one of the biggest “no-brainers” when it comes to our wishlist. She’s awesome, she’s worked with the Muschiettis before on Mama, and she’s got red hair (admittedly, the last part is the same criterion that saw Bryan Cranston topping every Lex Luthor wishlist during his shaved-head Breaking Bad years). She was also star Sophia Lillis’ pick, and surely that’s got to count for a lot.

Now, Screen Rant has asked the star of Zero Dark Thirty and The Martian if she’s game while talking to her and Idris Elba about their new film Molly’s Game, and Chastain was impressively cagey in response.

“Well, I love Andy and Barbara,” she said. “I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…We’ll see. Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.”

Now, this could be read as “I don’t want to say no because they’re my friends” or it could be read as “We’re trying to make it happen but I can’t say anything at the moment.” We hope it’s the latter.

Also on our wishlist is Creep‘s Mark Duplass, who has definitely noticed that some fans are rooting for him.

However, we’d suggest Duplass for Bill or Eddie, as we’d love to see Finn Wolfhard’s suggestion of Bill Hader for Richie come true.

We would like to highlight Idris Elba’s adorable reaction to Chastain being asked this question. “Get me in! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!” he exclaimed. He’d be a great Mike Hanlon, right? Although he does say that he hasn’t seen it in the same interview…
