Despite an effective fan campaign, studio support and a talented cast, Jericho just can’t seem to get itself off the ground with its poor audience turnout for the opener of the second season.
The troubled show’s premiere was meant to usher in a new era for the small town in Kansas, but with a 4.2 rating/7 share (the third lowest of the night, compared with nearly 30 million for American Idol and the poorest for a genre premiere this season), figures have to improve very soon if it’s to be extended beyond its seven episode lease of life.
However, it wasn’t helped by the weak lead-in of Big Brother 9, the tail spinning reality show, which earned 4.6/7, meaning that Jericho lost around 9% of the audience.
