Iron Fist TV series casts Colleen Wing

Another Game Of Thrones actor has been cast in Marvel’s Iron Fist

Like plenty of other people, it would appear that the creators of Marvel’s Iron Fist, the latest property from the House of Ideas to be turned into a Netflix series, have been watching Game Of Thrones. Following in the wake of the casting of Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell in the HBO hit) as Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, another Westeros dweller has been added to the roster. This time, it’s the turn of Jessica Fenwick, who has been cast as Colleen Wing.

Best remembered for playing Nymeria Sand (one of the Sand Snakes, the bastard daughters if the ill-fated Oberyn Martell), Fenwick’s role as Wing will almost certainly see her hew close to the comics, judging by the close association she shares with Iron Fist in it. Essentially, she’s a master martial artist and detective who ends up teaming up with Danny Rand after the latter is tracked down by her father, who has taken an interest in the upstart vigilante.

Later on she becomes part of the Heroes For Hire group with Rand, along with fellow vigilantes Luke Cage and Misty Knight (the latter of which is also slated to appear in the former’s show). How much of this will actually make it onto the series remains to be seen, but either way there’s a lot of back story to draw upon.

So far Jones and Fenwick are the only two to be cast in Iron Fist, which will see Scott Buck (Dexter) take on the showrunner mantle, and Allie Goss, Jeph Loeb and Stan Lee attached as executive producers.

Marvel’s Iron Fist will air worldwide on Netflix later in 2016. For more about the characters that inspired the series, pick up The 100 All-Time Greatest Comics: Revised Edition bookazine now. For more news about the latest series, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
