phdbwihj3x7tgf_m.jpgIt has been reported in various corners of the media that Steven Spielberg’s ‘people’ are working to get Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull booked in as the opening film at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.Paramount have indicated that there will be no preview screenings or press junkets for the film and so an airing at Cannes, if it was to transpire, would be the film’s sole performance before it opens on 22 May. Cannes though, which favours more independent and arthouse-orientated fare, has a frosty track record with Hollywood’s blockbuster output. Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code premiered at Cannes back in 2006 and was universally derided by audiences. The fourth Indiana Jones movie stars Harrison Ford as the eponymous archaeologist, and co-stars Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone and John Hurt.
